World Ecolabel Day - Beauty and responsibility can go hand in hand

Today, the 12th of October, marks a special day, as World Ecolabel Day is here! In honor of this day, we want to celebrate the fact that Ekta Helsinki's products have been awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, making us the first Finnish textile manufacturer to achieve this recognition.

The concept of sustainability is not straightforward or easily understood. In the fashion industry, sustainability is a multifaceted concept, and it's easy to become confused. With environmental, chemicals, circular economy, and other factors affecting the fashion industry, making better choices can seem very complicated. To make it easier for consumers to make more conscious choices they can choose products that have been eco certified by third party organizations. This is why Ekta Helsinki is particularly delighted to have received the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for our products – we want our customers to trust that Ekta Helsinki is genuinely a responsible actor.

Hard to earn - easy to choose

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is the official environmental label of the Nordic countries and one of the world's most demanding environmental certifications. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel looks at a product's overall environmental impact, and meeting the label's criteria requires passing strict and extremely tight standards. The criteria consider the essential stages of a product's entire lifecycle, from raw materials and production to recycling. This is why we are extremely proud to carry the title of the first Finnish textile producer to have products awarded this label.

Successfully meeting the Nordic Swan Ecolabel's meticulously crafted criteria reliably demonstrates that our products are made with the environment in mind. In textiles, attention is given to both raw materials and the chemicals used in production, as well as the quality and durability of the products. The overall evaluation encompasses production conditions, workplace conditions, and animal welfare.
