The Nordic Swan Ecolabel

The majority of Ekta Helsinki's products have been granted the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. All the products that have the label are marked with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel under the product information.

Nordic Ecolabelling works to reduce the environmental impact from production and consumption of goods. Both the production of the fibre and the use of chemicals during production are central to the criteria. By setting requirements for chemicals, through both limit values and the prohibition of a number of substances that are harmful to health and the environment, the criteria focus on reducing the environmental impact of the production and consider the health of both workers and consumers. Requirements are also set for the quality of the textiles, through factors such as colour fastness and shrinkage.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel was established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers as a voluntary ecolabelling scheme for the nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is one of the founders back in 1994 of the international network for ISO 14024 Type 1 ecolabels, GEN, the Global Ecolabelling Network.
